The CG260 series was developed for a high-power output with a power-to-weight ratio that is up to 40 percent better than similar products. It is easy to transport and fits well in small engine rooms or modular power plants. This series can achieve full power in less than five minutes from starting, depending upon cooling system design. This model consumes 40 percent less oil than some competitive generator sets, which is a savings of up to 4,000 litres of oil per year. The open combustion chamber allows the engine to operate on low-pressure gas without additional equipment or auxiliary fuel pumps. A multivariable controller integrates all critical control functions on the engine, improving the dynamic load response and increasing the electrical efficiency.

Markham District Energy

Markham District Energy (MDE) hired Toromont Power Systems as a turnkey provider to design and commission a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at Markham Centre and Cornell Centre. MDE operates over 21 MW of Cat-powered natural gas and diesel generating capacity at three locations that provide reliable and efficient power and heating to its customers. MDE is now into its second decade of operations and the City of Markham is the only Canadian municipality to own and operate two district energy systems.
